To Become a Registered Sanitarian in Arkansas:
The board shall admit to examination any person who makes
application to the secretary of the board on the appropriate
form provided, pays an application fee of $20.00, is a
citizen of the United States and is of good moral character.
The minimum requirements for admission to examination
for registration is as follows:
A bachelor or master of public health degree with specialization
in sanitary sciences from an approved school of public
health; or
College graduate in one of the natural
sciences (biology, chemistry, physics, math, earth and/or
geology) or engineering,
with a minimum of 30 semester hours or its equivalent
of the above subjects, plus one year’s experience
in environmental sanitation or approved training courses.
Any person meeting the educational
qualifications, but who does not meet the experience
requirements, may make
application to the Board to become a “Sanitarian-In-Training”.
Each person who passes the examination to
the satisfaction of the board shall be issued a certificate
of registration upon payment of a registration fee of
ten dollars ($10.00).

Maintaining Registration
Registered Sanitarians in Arkansas
must obtain 2 Continuing Education Units, (20 contact
hours) each biennium. Please
refer to our section on Continuing
Education Units. A
registration renewal fee of $20.00 is required each year.
